Tim grew up in a small town, and enjoyed playing sports growing up. It didn't take long for him to figure out that he was better at running up and down the field/court than any of the other technical aspects of the sport. His family was big on the outdoors, and running outside in the desert and the mountains felt natural. He fell in love with the sport through cross country and track, and saw some success in high school athletics that carried over to the NCAA level in college. He was offered a scholarship at Northern Arizona University, and Flagstaff really provided the environment to keep enjoying the sport long-term. He loved the team component of collegiate athletics, and after graduation struggled to find that again in the professional workplace. Trail/ultra running came as an escape from the 40-hour-week grind, and it pieced together everything that he had grown up around: competitive endurance racing, a supportive community of awesome people, and getting out into beautiful places.

Tim debuted at Lake Sonoma 50k in 2016, where he was runner-up to friend and training partner, Jim Walmsley.  His most significant win to date was Transvulcania in 2017, where he defeated a strong international field.
